"Around the Globe" contains extended and unseen footage from the McCarthy Tétrault holiday Christmas Card (http://www.mccarthy.ca/greetings/en/card.asp).

"Around the Globe" was shot over two weeks in six different cities. These cities include; Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Québec City, Montréal and London, England. "Around the Globe" is the successor to Snow Globe Los Angeles (https://vimeo.com/33881918).

2013

Video of the Day: 2013 from hiorganic on Vimeo.

the project’s name “ the end” was describing the oil, sun, war and atom, that was a huge surround-screen projection, and meaning the end of the world, and rebirth the new life.

Even the worlds end coming, blue sky getting grey, and ground in silence. Therefore, the earth burning, that transfers to the dust into the sky. However, I am still standing here to see what I saw, bring my heart to feeling even a little spot light shadow brings any hope to here again. All the reasons cause people making the WAR, wasting the natural resource for the earth.

Human continuing waste the black petrol in our natural resource, building various electronic towers in a lot of cities, therefore, earth do not have any petrol, and human waiting to die.

The sun with white colour surround the earth and space years by years, which gives power of life to anyone who living in the earth. The sun never stops turning the world, but one day, it will going to the ends, like people breathing the last second before the die. In the end, human lost everything, life getting dark and not sunshine anymore.

Human making wars, at the same time, they were also stolen each family’s peace life around the world. People should feeling shame as we getting fast till the worlds end. For future, we can still see the lights, but it is from the fighting, and brings all the happier gone.

People use hi-technology building the best weapons to mash the world, continue making wars even using the nuclear warfare, at the end; we are all like dust floating into the wind.

All the things continuing happening around the world, it can be happening soon or never happen again, but human are still floating around the earth with our little hopes. In the future, one day it will going to the end.

Video of the Day: infime from Cut And Cook Studio on Vimeo.

Since 2009, Cut and Cook has been preparing little delicate images.
«Infime» is the incredible adventure of the studio's highly skilled graphists gathered around one watchword they all support: enjoying creating extraordinary images.

«Infime» is also a major challenge in terms of digital technique. It required properly customized developing systems. Some 3D sequences featured more than 30 000 000 polygons. Time render has been optimized and reduced to the max (40 000 hours).

Through «Infime», Dan Charbit (director and supervisor) encourages you to immerse supernatural landscapes and  offers a graphic and poetic travel... Get a trip away.

Cheetahs on the Edge--Director's Cut

Video of the Day: Cheetahs on the Edge--Director's Cut from Gregory Wilson on Vimeo.

Cheetahs are the fastest runners on the planet. Combining the resources of National Geographic and the Cincinnati Zoo, and drawing on the skills of a Hollywood action movie crew, we documented these amazing cats in a way that’s never been done before.

Using a Phantom camera filming at 1200 frames per second while zooming beside a sprinting cheetah, the team captured every nuance of the cat’s movement as it reached top speeds of 60+ miles per hour.

The extraordinary footage that follows is a compilation of multiple runs by five cheetahs during three days of filming.

The American Dream video is based on the fear of success, this thought is extremely powerful, fear has the ability to cripple us from pursuing our dreams. The moment I embraced my dreams it was as if the universe had drawn people to help us and share their stories. Our goal is to tell the stories of the people who live in America. Your support is the driving force behind our project. We could not have done this without you. We have made it this far because you shared and supported us through our social networking sites. We were able to connect with the people in this film because of the internet. Every time you share or like this project it brings us one step closer to photographing your town, people you know, possibly even you.

Cityscape Chicago is a personal timelapse piece consisting of over 30,000 still photographs shot on the Canon 5D Mark III incrementally between July and October 2012 around downtown Chicago, Illinois.

The inspiration of this piece was my fascination with the city of Chicago, particularly at night. For me, there has always been a mysterious sort of feeling to Chicago at night, so I decided to explore and capture it.

WhoMadeWho "Running Man + The Sun"

Video of the Day: WhoMadeWho "Running Man + The Sun" from Good Boy! Creative on Vimeo.

Director: William Stahl
Writer: Michael Vogt
Cinematographer: Thomas A.

WhoMadeWho and Good Boy! Creative finish off their acclaimed "Pitfalls of modern man" video trilogy with a darkly humorous tale about spoiled and greedy modern men who, in the words of Mr. Burns, would "give it all for a little more".

This two-part video - covering the singles "Running Man" and "The Sun" from this years "Brighter" album - takes place at a fictional media company "Umlaut Creative" run by WhoMadeWho's Tomas Barfod.

The company's handsome, succesful employees are all smug and content in their cushy worlds of creative class self-righteousness and material prosperity. But when the company's HR guy makes them fill out a list entitled "10 things to do before you turn 40" their fragile bubbles burst, confidence turns to envy and envy erupts into violence...

The previous WhoMadeWho/Good Boy! Creative videos "Keep Me In My Plane" and "Every Minute Alone" have toured festivals all over the world and recieved widespread acclaim for their ambitious thematic depth, unusual for the music video medium. Both clips were nominated at the prestigious UK Music Video Awards.

The dual "Running Man/The Sun" video is an attempt to push the boundaries of the medium even further, by telling a thoughtprovoking story of high complexity in an exiting and original form.

Tea Making Tips (1941)

Video of the Day: Tea Making Tips (1941)

Welcome to the world of a national obsession and a place where people say 'orf' instead of 'off'. Tea connoisseurs will benefit from the six golden tips for making the perfect cuppa, as well as countless other handy hints (never store your tea next to cheese, for example). There's an assessment of the pros and cons of various teapots and words of wisdom about the tea bush itself. Slightly grotesque methods for producing tea en masse are demonstrated - it was wartime, after all - and tea had to be produced by the oceanful. As such, there are some top tips for cleaning that hard-to-reach tap in your tea urn. Remember: "a dirty tap means dirty tea". Notes from the Creator: Published on Oct 17, 2012 by Robert Whitworth
Kuala Lumpur Time Lapse: super-modern buildings juxtaposed with various cultural enclaves and with a little of Asia's chaos thrown in. My time lapse explores how the city changes from day to night highlighting how spaces dramatically alter during the course of a few hours.

As summarised by Marc Lourdes on Yahoo! Malaysia:

"5 months. 400 hours of solid work. 4 cameras. 40 shoots. 640 gigabytes of data. 19,997 photographs."

Christoph Malin's ISS Startrails - TRONized

ISS Startrails - TRONized from Christoph Malin on Vimeo.

Do you remember 1982's "TRON" movie? The plot: A computer programmer (epic: Jeff Bridges) is digitized inside the software world of a mainframe computer, where he interacts with various programs in his attempt to get back out. Including light cycle races and strange solar wind ships...

Back in the real word the ISS is in a way one of these solar ships, constantly rotating around us. A tiny white spot, as it can be seen racing over the sky from time to time, when illuminated by the sunset (and sunrise ;).

This Video was achived by "stacking" image sequences provided by NASA from the Crew at International Space Station. These "stacks" create the Star Trails, but furthermore make interesting patterns visible. For example lightning corridors within clouds, but they also show occasional satellite tracks (or Iridium Flashes) as well as meteors - patterns that interrupt the main Star Trails, and thus are immediately visible.

The many oversaturated hot pixels in some of the scenes are the inevitable result of high ISO settings the Nikon D3s in ISS-use are pushed to for keeping exposure times short (owed to the dramatic speed the ISS travels). As there are no dark frames or RAW data currently available, hot pixels are not easy to remove.

After the initial stacking, all images have been sequenced with Apple Motion and the Video cut and edited with Final Cut Pro X. Stacked with the StarStaX app, get it here: markus-enzweiler.de/software/software.html

All sequences and images courtesy "The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth", Image Science & Analysis Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Center, eol.jsc.nasa.gov/Videos/CrewEarthObservationsVideos/

Thanks a lot to my favourite bad Astronomer, Phil at BadAstronomy for first posting the film (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/10/16/my-god-its-full-of-star-trails/) and many many thanks to Vimeo for the Staff Pick!

Video of the Day: Eudon Choi AW12 Fashion Film from Crane.tv on Vimeo.

Crane.tv presents a fashion film to inaugurate South Korean, London-based designer Eudon Choi's AW 12 collection, now launched exclusively at Selfridges in London. Inspired by the simplicity yet complex detail work on the garments, the film brings together elements from everyday life while merging them with a futuristic vision. The piece was choreographed by contemporary dance choreographer Tim Casson, previously an assistant to Wayne McGregor and part of the Jasmin Vardimon Company, who's visual palette of mechanical hand and arm movements highlight the structure and details of the garments.

It's taken a while but finally, here is the first upload of BIRDMASK Visuals. I first started work on these way back at the end of 2010. Like my Tasty Visuals, they started out with some miscellaneous illustration. The elements came together quite nicely and I started to form compositions out of them which became geometric, tribal bird faces. Like with most of my illustrations, I couldn't resist bringing it alive by animating it.

In their earliest form there was a lot less clips and they weren't in HD. A lot of elements didn't fit together well either so mixing between faces wasn't as smooth. In it's current form, the set is made up of 6 different faces, each one with 8 layers and 4 different clips per layer - making a total of 192 clips. These are all loaded into Resolume and triggered using Ableton and an iPad. See this video >> https://vimeo.com/50071434 on how I link audio with visuals. This video was made by recording a Resolume composition - all the clips being triggered live. This piece wasn't composited using FCP or Premiere! (or After Effects for that matter), it was all done live.

BIRDMASK visuals made their debut in Geneva at Mapping Festival in May 2011 (http://mappingfestival.ch/2011/types/?artist=1285&lang=en) and since then have been played in clubs across London. The biggest showing was during Channel 4's House Party (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/house-party/articles/aszyk) where we performed alongside RnB legends 'Soul II Soul', who played an amazing set, mixing Reggae, House, RnB and Garage.

The set is still evolving and work has begun on a 3D version. I'm hoping to port them into UNITY 3D where I can make them even more reactive...

The Goat Herder and his Lots and Lots and Lots of Goats

The Goat Herder and his Lots and Lots and Lots of Goats from Will Rose on Vimeo.

Winner of the Independent Animation Award 2012 at The Blue Plum Animation festival Tennessee http://www.blueplumanimation.com/winners/ and chosen By Vimeo for their 'Staff Picks'.
Inspired by my two year old niece who having seen a goat herder in Spain kept chanting 'lots and lots and lots of goats!'. The story follows a day in the life of a goat herder and his flock of goats as they travel up and down the mountains of Spain. Andy Cabic, lead singer of the band Vetiver http://vetiverse.com/ kindly gave me permission to use his track for the film which was fantastic.
There is no dialogue. The story is told using sound and movement.
I created this film during a break between animating on 'Peppa Pig' and 'Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom'.
I would love to make this in to an app for the iPAD as an interactive animated storybook for kids.
